Deutsche Bank to Launch Crypto Custody Service in 2026, Expands into Stablecoins
Deutsche Bank is advancing its foray into digital assets with plans to debut a crypto custody service by 2026. The initiative, spearheaded by its corporate division, marks the first tangible progress since the bank's initial announcement in 2022. Swiss tech partner Taurus SA, a veteran of Deutsche's blockchain projects, will provide the backend infrastructure alongside Bitpanda, enabling institutional-grade custody solutions.
The bank is also exploring stablecoins and tokenized deposits, with potential plans to issue its own token or collaborate on industry-wide blockchain payment projects. Regulatory compliance remains a priority, particularly under Europe's MiCA framework and amid shifting U.S. crypto policies following the recent election.
